Preventative Maintenance and Winterizing

Preventative maintenance and winterizing of your home plumbing system gives you year-round peace of mind and can save you a lot of money. Burst or clogged pipes often result in costly damage, not only to your pipes, but also to your floors, walls, and belongings. You could also end up with adverse health effects from mildew or mold growth due to lingering moisture issues. Your home is your biggest investment and you can’t put a price on good health. It pays to take sensible, cost-effective steps to protect both. Don’t spend your winter vacation wondering if freezing weather back home is going to mean big problems when you return. There are a number of things ParkerDean can do to ensure you’re home plumbing is protected.

Here are some of the services we offer:

Helpful tips to save you money

Turn off before you Take off
If you’re planning holidays away from home consider turning off the water within your house. It’s an unfortunate mystery of the universe. Hot water tanks typically fail when you’re not around to deal with them immediately!
Hoses Hate Cold
Store your garden hoses indoors in winter. Cold weather can weaken or rupture the hose material, especially if it hasn’t been drained before a cold snap.
Fire and Water Don’t Mix
Don’t try to fix a frozen pipe by pouring boiling water on the affected area. This can cause the pipe to burst, leaving you facing an even worse situation. Never use an open flame source to thaw pipes. You can try using a hair driver, but playing with fire is best left to the professionals.
